What is Prayer?

Prayer Focus week 30 (Sunday-Shabbat)

What actually is prayer? Is it a list of requests, thanks, and confessions? It is relationship with the Creator of All.
Think about your relationship with your spouse or best friend. What if every time you were together, you had a list of please-do’s, sorrys, and updates on what was accomplished. Is that a relationship – or a business meeting? Relationship is not an agenda – it is communicating, communicating the deeper things of your heart. Just as we long to hear how our children, spouse, best friend love us, so our Heavenly Father longs for that intimacy with us.
Let us put aside our own agendas and focus on the Lover of our souls.

Verse to memorize:  How is your memorizing going? If you are behind, commit to catching up! Psalm 91 is powerful!
o    Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust (Psalm 91:1-2, NIV)
o    Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; (Psalm 91:3-4, NIV)
o    You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.(Psalm 91:5-6, NIV)
o    A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. (Ps 91:7-8, NIV)
o    If you make the Most High your dwelling – even the LORD, who is my refuge –
Then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. (Ps 91:9-10, NIV)
Prayer:we blessed to be allowed to intercede for the needs. Some answers come within a few days, others may take weeks or months. Regardless of what we see with our natural eyes, HE is working. We need to continue to be faithful inintercession!

“Loving, precious Father. Thank You for Your unending love. Thank You that You are more than a best friend, You are the Almighty! You are the One who knit us together in our mother’s wombs; it is You who gave us breath; it You who counts our days. Help us to live each day with our love of You reigning supreme in our minds. We love You, LORD! Bless each of our brothers and sisters. Heal the physically and emotionally hurting. Protect our soldiers – we continue to pray that You will bring them home spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically whole and stronger than when they left – be with their families. In Your Holy Name, we pray.”
