The Season of Preparation!

Prayer Focus week 12 (Sunday-Shabbat)

“Season of Tshuvah” begins 40 days prior to Yom Kippur.During this season, we focus on repenting, or “turning [shuv] toward God. This year it began last Wednesday, August 31 (the first day of Elul), and goes thru Oct 9, Yom Kippur.

FOCUS: The Season of Preparation

As we read in last week’s The Call to Prayer, God is strongly admonishing us to intercede – for each other, for our nation, for ourselves. He has warned again and again that heavy times are coming – we must be prepared. He has provided us with all the necessary tools: Himself, His Word, His promises, and the encouragement of each other! Now is the time for us to stand and not to waver. We must act! Together, we WILL see how prayer continues to change things! (We will hold up each other’s arms until the answer has come!)

 Verses upon which to meditate:

o   “So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming,” Ephesians 4:11-14, NIV.

o   “Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven,” James 5:13-15, NIV.

o   Night and day we pray most earnestly that we may see you again and supply what is lacking in your faith, I Thess 5:10, NIV.

Prayer:
o   “Father, we thank You for Your Word. Thank You for preparing us for the times ahead! We desire to be strong and mature disciples. Help us to look to You as our source and to not those who would lead us astray. Help us to be steady and consistent in walking in Your ways. We pray for those sick, having surgery, or had surgery – and thank You that You not only hear but that You also ANSWER! We pray for family situations – for Your healing hand. We pray for our nation – that You would heal our land as we, believers, turn from our wicked ways [IIChron 7:14]. In Your awesome and loving Name, we pray.”
