Sukkot — Feast of Tabernacles, part II

Prayer Focusweek 18 (Sunday-Shabbat) –- will YOU be joyful?

We continue to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) that G-d Himself instituted. Sages and rabbis call this “The Season of our Rejoicing,” based off of Lev 23:40c. (The Season of our Rejoicing: Z’man Simchateinu Z'mn Simchateinu (in Hebrew))

CHALLENGE: until next weekend, are we willing to cast off all negative thoughts, feelings, and offenses? Are we willing to rejoice in our King of Kings? Are we willing to let Him change our attitudes into rejoicing and follow His command to “rejoice” for seven days!!
Verses upon which to meditate:  Sukkot is not just for “Jews”, it’s for us all …..
o    “And you shall take for yourselves on the first day the fruit of beautiful trees, branches of palm trees, the bough of leafy trees, and the willows of the brook; and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God for seven days,” Lev 23:40, NKJV.
o   “Celebrate this as a festival to the LORD for seven days each year. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come … Live in booths for seven days,” Lev. 23:41-42, NIV.
o   “You turned my wailing [mourning] into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,” Psalm 30:11, NIV.
Prayer:
“Most high and heavenly Father – in You, we do rejoice. We pray You will turn our mourning into dancing. Help us to control our attitudes. Help us to look at the bigger picture of what You are doing in OUR lives – not necessarily what we want You to do in another’s life or what we think the other person should change. Help us to focus on Your sovereign intervention into our personal lives so we can walk more upright before You. Thank You that You are our all-sufficiency! We bless YOU, O mighty God. We pray Your healing on each of the requests – show us and teach us to pray more effectively. In Your most holy Name, we pray.”

Hallelujah:

o   Bev and Ruben attended her 50th class reunion – and was with her brothers!
o   God has changed Natan’s deployment date from Oct 1 to Oct 18! (Natan and family are together in El Paso! We continue to pray for God’s perfect day for Natan’s deployment! Sunday, Oct 16, he is supposed to find out if he is leaving on Tuesday, the 16th. PLEASE pray for God’s timing.)

o   Baby Mackenzie (her mother is Bonnie’s great niece’s friend): born about a month ago and has already had heart surgery and infections from her lines. Normally open-heart is not done until babies are older; in this instance, they couldn’t wait. Her parents knew prior to her birth that she would have these huge life-long medical challenges and were offered abortion as an alternative. They chose life – hallelujah! Please pray for her and her family!
o   Rhonda: pain continues to lessen – and that these remaining 4weeks of healing will pass quickly!

o   Food bank (Cynthia’s parents’ ministry). Two of those injured by the accident at the food bank at her parents’ church are trying to sue the church and Cynthia’s parents to recover their medical costs. We are believing God to see this activity stopped and against fear. We know no weapon formed against them will prosper.
(Insurance has made a payment, but lawyers aren’t satisfied.)
o   Natan and family (Les’a and Don’s son and his family): the date of his deployment would be God’s date!
